In Dr. Tackett's words:
"This is Doug. He is sitting fourth from the left next to Melissa. Doug and I have experienced a lot together. We helped start a church in Montgomery, Alabama, many years ago. I love him as a brother. His heart for God is so deep and real that it sometimes leaves me in awe. His mind and discernment are so short and penetrating that I marvel at his insights. I am always filled with a deep joy and peace when I am around him."
Tour 8 Student Cameo, Doug
Doug Smith is a retired school teacher who says he’s always been driven by the question “why,” constantly searching for answers rather than accepting “that’s just the way it is.” His interest in worldview grew largely from teaching science and wrestling with questions of creation, but he says it wasn’t until The Truth Project that the framework truly came together because it revealed God’s heart, not just facts. Doug describes his life as coming out of “dark waters,” and he’s now convinced he has never been alone—not for a single second—even when he didn’t realize it. That assurance has carried him through difficult recent years, giving him confidence that God will get him to the “other side” even through pain. He hopes the Engagement vision will multiply supportive, faith-filled relationships so people stop suffering in isolation and instead walk with one another until they rediscover that God is with them.
