In Dr. Tackett's own words:
"This is Gentry. She sits on the far left next to Mark. Gentry is an amazing person, in her heart and soul and mind. She was a student in the very last class of the Focus on the Family Institute. I came to love both her brilliance and her joyful countenance which always reflected such an infectious joy in the Lord. Whenever we talk of deep issues. I know Gentry is going to nurture those things in both her heart and mind, contemplate them, and wrestle with them. And when she does, there will be a rich conversation, believe me! Gentry is a counselor working on her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision."
(Dr. Tackett's remarks are at the time of the filming).
Tour 1 Student Cameo, Gentry
This is Gentry. Gentry is a counselor in Tacoma, Washington, whose work combines clinical mental health and addictions work, including groups and individual sessions with support from a medical staff.
She first met Dr. Tackett nearly six years ago as a worldview student in the final Focus Leadership Institute class in 2014. She senses God has been opening doors and brought her to this work for reasons that will unfold over time, including relationships formed in the small group and the chance to share the material with others.
Gentry was especially engaged by Dr. Tackett's simple-but-complex visual teaching elements used to illustrate different epochs. As a counselor, she stresses that modern culture confuses digital connection with real relationship, which leaves people vulnerable in isolation.
Gentry concludes that rebuilding genuine relationships with those around us is what society has lost and reflects the way Jesus lived.
