Prayer for Repentance, Tuesday Noon Eastern [audio]
May 20, 2025

Thank you for joining together today in prayer. We are praying that God will grant us repentance as a nation and as a culture.

Today will be our last day to do these online prayer times. A deep thanks to all of you who have been faithful to join week after week. I have been praying for repentance for years and years and we have been doing these online gatherings since December of 2023. I pray that we will continue to join together on Tuesdays, noon Eastern, but we will do it before the Lord, not together online. If you are in Christ, then you are a priest, part of the Royal Priesthood. You do not need anyone to lead you in prayer. Be bold before the Lord because He has clothed you in the righteousness of Christ. Remember to pray for the saints, that we will begin to fulfill the Royal Law and that we will see many come to Christ through the work of His people in this land.

Okay, with that, let’s pray.

O Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, please hear our unified prayer this day. We praise you and honor you and bring before you our adoration, for you are the only true God, creator of all things, holy and just, faithful and true, merciful and mighty. Your Word magnifies the name of Jesus, saying:

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. (Col 1:15-16)

You are our king, our lord, you are our God. You are Yaweh and you are zealous for your Name, you are zealous for your Word and you are zealous for your people.

And because, dear Father, you love your people with amazing grace, we come before you with hearts that are heavy with lament for the state of our nation. We have become so obsessed with ourselves that we no longer give you much thought, let alone acknowledge you in the daily life of this nation. We no longer lift your Name in praise in our schools, we no longer lift your Word in honor in our governmental agencies, we no longer follow your moral guidance in our music and movies and entertainment, which consumes most of our lives. We no longer work and labor as if unto You. A godly work ethic is hard to find. Indeed, workers are getting harder and harder to find.

We acknowledge before you that we, as a culture, have turned away from you. Lies and deception seem to be everywhere. It is getting more and more difficult to trust what we see and hear and read. Fakes and deception take on the cloak of reality. We can’t trust the news or the internet. Those with power in government and labor lie to us continually. We have turned good into evil and evil into good. We have flipped the words “justice” and “compassion” on their heads, and we now affirm that which are abominations in your eyes. We protest for evil, we fight for wrong, we chant for that which is detestable. The innocent are slaughtered in the womb and we cheer the right to do so. The criminal is made to be the victim and those who stand for truth, the enemy.

You have blessed us with such bounty, such beautiful land, and yet we have spurned you like a spoiled child. You gave us wisdom and solid foundations, and yet we despised sound wisdom and chased after folly. We have amassed debts beyond reasonable repayment. They stand like an avalanche ready to bury and smother us.

Powerful foreign enemies prowl like lions, probing and planning for ways to destroy. Mighty forces await their chance to pounce. But these are nothing compared to the spiritual forces that are scheming and entrenching themselves, looking for footholds. A demonic worldview spreads throughout our land; like a cancer it ravages the mind and heart, stirring up hatred, pitting one against another, fomenting animosity and hostility, distrust and skepticism, seeking to destroy all things that are good and true and beautiful, because the enemy hates You, O Lord.

Please, dear Father, we beg of You, bring us to repentance. Sweep our land with lament and remorse at our sin. Break our hearts before you. Bend our knees in humble confession and give us a contrite heart. You did this to Nineveh, so many years ago, do so to us. May our land be filled with praise and adoration, may our lips pour forth honor and devotion and worship to the only true God of the universe.
Return us to our senses, O Lord. Stop the cancer of the enemy. Remove our folly. May our foolishness become wisdom and our unrighteousness become uprightness. May we walk before you in humbleness and joy. May our leaders praise your name, may our courts rule with true justice, may our words be filled  with truth and trust restored; may violence cease and hatred quenched.

O Lord, we see your warning signs. Our nation is now filled with insanity; it is filled with uncertainty; it is filled with volatility and unrest. We can see that we are increasingly like a house of cards. We know that you could merely raise a finger and it could all come crashing down into a pile of rubble.

But, Lord, if you should rise and instead sweep us with a deep repentance; bring us back to our senses, then we could be a light to the nations; we could make righteousness desirable; we could lead those in tyranny to freedom; we could halt the rise of human trafficking; we could stop the incessant flow of pornography from our nation.

O Lord, hear the pleas of the remnant you have left in this land. Heal the body of Christ, spur us on to love our neighbors so that we might spur on this repentance. Have mercy upon us, dear Father in Heaven.

All for your glory and your glory alone. Soli deo gloria. Amen.

Thank you again for your faithfulness in joining together. I will be joining you each Tuesday, as we all lift our voices before the Lord.

May the Lord fill you with His joy today.

Engagement Project Launch
We are rejoicing!  God was gracious to us yesterday at the Engagement Project launch in Colorado Springs. We filled the sanctuary of Village Seven Presbyterian Church (within the COVID restrictions) and there were 490 who joined us on the live stream. It was a joy for me to be able to meet so many who had been faithful in leading the Truth Project and were now excited to take this next step. They came from Florida and Georgia, Arizona and Wyoming and other parts in between. Those who were online were watching from New York to Alaska, Minnesota to Louisiana, and New Jersey to Alberta, Canada. Believe or not, we also had people participating in the live stream from Romania, the United Kingdom, South Africa and other countries.  God is so very good!  This is quite humbling to me and I can do nothing but thank our gracious Lord for all of this and those through whom He worked – all those who sacrificially gave so that we might meet what appeared to be an insurmountable budget; those who have labored tirelessly like the Truth Encounter Ministries Board; and those who have been faithful prayer warriors.  This is the culmination of over ten years of dreaming and hoping and waiting on the Lord, but when I held the DVDs in my hands, it finally sunk in that God had carried us to the finish line. However, it really isn’t the finish line because we are dedicated to the care and feeding of all of those that He will raise up to lead small groups in their home and to begin to engage the culture around them. We are going to do our very best to provide them with whatever resources we can to help them in their critical Kingdom work. We are also already thinking and planning for the final phase: the Restoration. May God put His hands on all of it. Soli Deo Gloria!

Pray, Remnant, Tuesdays Noon Eastern, for Revival and Repentance
It is past time for those who call upon the Lord, to call upon the Lord. If God prompts you, let’s take a few minutes to begin to pray together, on Tuesdays at noon, eastern, for repentance and revival in our land. Wouldn't it be something if the totality of God's people were humbling themselves before God together with one voice at the same time all over our land.  It is important, however, to recognize that God is the one who grants repentance: "...in the hope that God will grant them repentance and they will come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil who has taken them captive to do his will.” (2 Timothy 2:14-16) So, we must ask Him, yea plead with Him, to grant our culture repentance and that we might "come to our senses". This may mean that He will first need to bring us to our knees through tragedy or dire circumstances, but repentance is what we desperately need. May we be like Ninevah, who, as a nation, repented before God and He relented from the judgment that was due to them. Pray for personal revival and repentance: Confession of our sin of selfishness, all about me, all about my script; pride and control; complaining and whining; faithlessness and hopelessness; sins that entangle my life; sins that build barriers between me and others; apathy; laziness and procrastination; wasting time; busyness and chasing after worthless activities; addictions; lack of joy and love and peace and patience; coolness in my hunger for God. Pray for a revival of my heart and soul and mind; for the Spirit of God to breathe upon me. Pray for national revival and repentance: Confession of our corporate sin of the slaughter of millions of babies and the casual selling of their severed bodies; for the sin of sexual immorality—in our laws, in our arts and media, movies and music; for the sin of theft and murder and lawless crime ravaging our streets and cities; for the sin of lust for drugs, for sex, for money, for power; for the sin of rebellion and tyranny in government; for our nation rejecting God. Pray for revival in our marriages, in our families, in our neighborhoods, in our businesses, in our pulpits and congregations, in our governors, in our state and federal governments. May the Lord be gracious and merciful to us and turn the heart of our nation back to Him. Pray for the unity and revival of the Remnant: Pray that God would breathe on our dry bones; that He would pull us together; that we would stand in the face of persecution; that we would be blameless before God and man; that we would encourage each other, pray for one another, love each other as Jesus prayed we would and that the world would know Him to be the Son of God because of our oneness in Christ; that we would be the light and salt we were meant to be; that God would raise us up for such a time as this. All for His Glory. Soli Deo Gloria!
